Install Java OpenJDK 8 on a Linux Based Operating System

Java was created by the Oracle Corporation and is used as the programming language for many programs, including Minecraft servers. This guide runs through how to install Java OpenJDK for Linux based operating systems, please consult the documentation provided by Oracle for other operating systems such as MacOS or Windows.
Confirm The Server's Internet Connection
Installing programs require an internet connection, verify it using the following command.
It should respond with some data including the packet loss. Confirm that it is 0%, else your internet connection may be unstable and not suitable.Code:ping java.com
Update the Software
Operating systems by default may not contain the necessary files to properly operate.
For CentOS, run the following command. Add "sudo" in front if you are not logged in as the root user.
For Debian and Ubuntu, run the following command. Add "sudo" in front if you are not logged in as the root user.Code:yum update -y
CentOS MirrorCode:apt-get update -y
CentOS users will have to take an additional step. The following command adds a mirror to your setup. Add "sudo" in front if you are not logged in as the root user.
Installing JavaCode:yum install epel-release -y
For CentOS users, run the following command to install Java OpenJDK 8.* . Add "sudo" in front and after the delimiter if not logged in as the root user.
For Ubuntu and Debian users, run the following command. Add "sudo" in front and after the delimiter if not logged in as the root user.Code:yum install java-1.8.0-openjdk -y; yum update -y
Install CompleteCode:apt-get install openjdk-8-jdk; apt-get update -y
Java should now be installed, check the version and confirm it's installed using the following command.
