For the people who are unaware of this rule, it stops everyone utilising the shoutbox to post an external site link (such as a Selly). Now you may only post a thread link on MCT. Most people (like me) can't be arsed to go to a thread and then click on a selly, so you lose some potential buyers. In other words, you make less money. All this rule does is make the process more difficult for both the buyer and seller, which makes them both unhappy. In addition, aren't MCT rules supposed to make this site a 'better and safer place'? I simply don't see how anyone would benefit from this rule. If, however, this rule specifically refers to link shortners or screamers (or in worst cases, porn sites) then I completely agree with this rule. All I'm asking is to either remove this rule entirely OR make an exception so selly and other reputable links are allowed. Banned Reason: Scamming The User #2869 (Leaf) Ban Ends: Never
The selly.gg isn't allowed because MCT can't handle transactions regarding those to verify if they're legit or not. If posted as a resource or a thread on here, they have jurisdiction to interfere with such matters. people can scam more easily with selly.gg
I see your point, however even if they link a thread which takes you to a selly, the same issue occurs. Banned Reason: Scamming The User #2869 (Leaf) Ban Ends: Never
If threads with selly.gg's are allowed, why can't you just post the thread link then... so its archived on MCT?
That's just a buyer lazy problem. I suggest you deal with it as there's no reason to risk their safety or what not for MCT to not be able to stop them from clicking and buying from a false selly.gg without documentation of the user posting it on MCT here.
I would agree with this, except this just seems like a money whore move for MCT... so... I doubt they'll do this.
tell that to whoever decided to use adwords Banned Reason: Scamming The User #2869 (Leaf) Ban Ends: Never
⚡ zDrakon ⚡ we decided to add rule 2.6 not to be a "money whore", but to improve the security and safety of all members on the site. We do not require any funds to utilize MCTrades, however you may donate to enhance your experience. realcmd, there was once this time where people didn't buy as many ranks and name colors. We need $$$ to stay alive like every other website. Thus, welcome Adwords.
You misunderstand. They were suggesting To force users to get ranks to advertise direct selly.gg links. I'm on your side pal. read more carefully please I'm in a bit of a ticked off mood from a toxic ass user from a competitor on their shoutbox.
The only reason we added it was because, as zDrakon said, we can't monitor what transactions occur on external links. If sellers make threads, they allow other users to voice their feedback—effectively making the site a better and safer place as we can both monitor what people say about transactions and take heed from other's experiences with the seller. Plus, it also allows the sellers to consistently keep one thread that's always there, rather than crummy 15-minute ads in a chatbox. The other base point here is: let's keep it on the forum. I'm all up for using external tools to sell your products, but you're also driving our userbase to external Selly pages. Let's keep the discussion here. Also, I highly doubt it's making users lose buyers. That's just being plain lazy if you aren't willing to click an extra link and see what users had to say about the seller you're so quick to buy from.
Why, though? I didn't create this rule to market it, I did it to keep our community comparatively safer. [ Double Post Merged - ( New Post Date: Aug 4, 2017 ) - ( Original Post Date: Jul 30, 2017 ) ] Denied for the reasons stated above. Thanks for the suggestion.
